Dr. Bankim Shah

Bankim Shah, M.D., is a dual board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine with extensive training in both outpatient adult primary care and sleep health.

He completed his medical degree at P.S. Medical College, followed by his residency in Internal Medicine at RWJ Barnabas Health, Jersey City Medical Center, and fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at Hackensack Meridian–JFK Neuroscience Center. Dr. Shah serves as an associate provider at NJ Vein Care, where he brings a comprehensive, whole-patient perspective to complex medical and wellness concerns. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, asthma, COPD, anxiety, depression, obesity management, and preventive care. He also specializes in sleep-related conditions such as insomnia, parasomnias, narcolepsy, and sleep-disordered breathing in both adults and children.

Dr. Shah is recognized for his commitment to delivering thoughtful, patient-centered care that emphasizes communication, trust, and shared decision-making. He integrates internal medicine and sleep medicine to address the interconnected nature of chronic disease, fatigue, metabolic health, and sleep quality, helping patients achieve more sustainable long-term outcomes. His clinical approach is grounded in careful evaluation and individualized treatment planning, ensuring each patient receives care tailored to their unique needs and goals. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Shah has contributed to medical research at Columbia University Medical Center and has authored multiple publications in his field. He has received honors from the President and Secretary of the Senate

as well as the NJSS Service Award in recognition of his excellence in patient care and contributions to medicine. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Shah is multilingual, which allows him to connect with a diverse patient population, and he is known for building strong, respectful relationships with those he treats. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing pickleball and spending time with his family, reflecting his belief in maintaining balance between personal well-being and professional dedication.
