What is a Venous Lake?
Venous lakes are blue appearing vascular abnormalities most often found on the lower lip. They are more common in men and usually occur after the age of 50. However, they sometime can be found in much younger men and women.
How are they treated?
At NJ Vein Care and Aesthetics Center, Dr. Nackman and his team offer laser vein treatment with the Nd:YAG Elite+™ laser. Laser has replaced invasive surgery as the treatment of choice for venous lake removal.
How does laser vein treatment work?
Dr. Nackman calibrates the energy in the Elite Laser to target the blood in your visible venous lake, which immediately destroys and collapses the lake. Directly after your treatment, you will see a darkening of the lake and over the next month, it will shrink.
Is laser treatment safe?
Laser treatment of venous lakes is both safe and effective with minimal risks. Most patients only require one treatment!
